Joel Leftwich Stone was born 4 Dec 1809 in Bedford Co., Virginia. He married Susan M. Zively about 1837. Susan was born 25 Oct 1819 in Fayetteville, Tennessee and died 15 Sep 1896 in Easonville, St. Clair Co., Alabama and is buried in the Coosa Valley Cemetery there. They had at least eight children and they were:
George Washington Stone - He was born 12 Aug 1844 in Talladega, Alabama. He married Euphemia Ann Brown on 16 Mar 1866 in Talladega. They had at least nine children, George Milton Stone, William Brown Stone, Joel Leftwich Stone, Annie Rosella Stone, Sue Euphemia Stone, Margaret Brown Stone, Daisye Kelly Stone, Frank Brandon Stone, and Hugh McNeil Stone. George W. died 2 Feb 1912 in Easonville, St. Clair Co., Alabama and is buried in the Coosa Valley Cemetery there.
