Morna Lou Crawford wrote, "Edward Kendall was married a second time to a widow names Steele, in Stone Co., Missouri. After the death of my Grandmother, he and Ellen Belle, only daughter at home then, moved to Missouri near the home of Martha Bettis. The old farm near Berryville, Arkansas where he homesteaded land when he first went to Arkansas was bought by one Owen Owens, a Welch farmer who already owned land near there. My brother Bob Kendall married a daughter of Owen Owens named Beulah. Her parents knew the Kendalls well, as did an older sister, who remembers them well. The second marriage apparently did not last very long. I never knew of this marriage until recent years, when, in corresponding with older cousins to learn something of Edward and Morna, I learned of it. He became ill, as my mother told me when I asked her of it, and the wife then wrote my father, only son, to "Come get him," which my father did. He died a few months later at the home of Mary Jackson, third child. I've never seen a picture of Grandmother (McElyea) Kendall, but have a picture of Edward Kendall. From the things I have been able to learn of him, he was a good man, active in Baptist activities of Carroll Co. for many years. Very kindly, and with a great sense of humor. My oldest brother said that Grandfather said once that "The Kendalls started in Henry Co., Tennessee and the ones that could read went to Texas." I have a second cousin, Hattie Kendall Braswell, who talked with some of my cousins around Hornbeak. I believe she and her husband took her family, Lemuel Kendall, back there once. She is a Granddaughter of Amos Kendall. Her husband Klute and I are both interested in genealogy, but she is not so much. Told me that if Klute and I could connect up with the RICH KENDALLS (Kendall Oil, Kendall Textile Mills, etc.) that she would become interested. Another example of the Kendall humor."

Edward Elms, Jr. died 13 Oct 1906 in Berryville, Carroll Co., Arkansas.
